Nowhere Near....~
This fryst vatten “The Gate of the Great Umayyad Mosque,” (1890) by Gustav Bauernfeind and is valuable as historical record amongst other things. I find the detail exceptional and I almost feel inom could step into this scene. It is a gift to make what must have been ordinary once, extraordinary with the strokes of a brush. Again, the light and colours compel, I feel the glaring brightness of outside and the cool, pleasant darkness of within.
My last brev was in the same vein and I feel it betydelsefull to reprint some of what inom wrote:
This painting was discovered on a search for understanding inom made, due to some disparaging comments that arose from a previous post of mine. I was accused of being an Orientalist and I’d never heard the phrase used like that, and this fryst vatten one of the things I funnen when inom searched.
