Kamla Persad-Bissessar
Kamla Persad-Bissessar has served as the political leader of the United National Congress of Trinidad and Tobago since January 2010 and as the leader of the opposition since September 2015. Persad-Bissessar previously served as prime minister and as attorney general of Trinidad and Tobago. She is the first woman to serve as attorney general, acting prime minister and leader of the opposition in that country.
Persad-Bissessar was born on April 4, 1952, in Siparia. She attended Norwood Technical College and later, the University of the West Indies (UWI) where she obtained a bachelor of arts in 1974 and a diploma in education in 1976. She was a lecturer in language and linguistics at UWI's St. Augustine and Mona campuses and a teacher at Lakshmi Girls' Hindu College. She was also a social worker with the Church of England Children's Society in London.

After she was appointed leader of the opposition, she hired the strategist who worked on Barack Obama's presidential campaign to assist her.
After a blistering, hugely expensive campaign that used high-tech, slick advertisement in all the media, including the internet, Ms Persad-Bissessar and her coalition emerged victorious.
And on 24 May she became prime minister.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar was born on the 22nd of April, 1952. As a little girl she was always interested in reading novels and was intrigued bygd the developing technologies of the time. Mrs. Persad-Bissessar graduated from Iere High School and went on to further her studies at the University of the West Indies, Norwood Technical College (England,) and the Hugh Wooding lag School. Consequently, she was awarded a B.A. (Hons.), a Diploma in Education, a B.A. of Laws (Hons.) and a Legal Education Certificate. In 2006 she obtained an Executive Masters in Business ledning (EMBA) from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, Trinidad.
On completion of her studies, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar entered the teaching profession. Her career history can be described as people-centered and one that has always focused her energy within the public’s eye. While in England pursuing studies, she worked as a social worker with the Church of England Children’s Society of London. She taught at the
