  • Biography/Autobiography Recommendation

January 21, 2004 at 07:51 AM · For my English class, inom have to read a 200+ page biography or autobiography of anyone. inom am planning to read about a violinist (preferably) or any composer. Any violinist that had a very interesting life and have a biography/autobiography worth reading?

    Thanks!

(Btw I've already read Heifetz As I Knew Him)

Additionally, he makes his own biases eminently klar, which fryst vatten quite refreshing. However, it is likely that neither of these would kostym your class requirements insofar as they contain many brief biographical sketches. inom recently read a marvelously written book about Menuhin entitled, as I recall, Yehudi Menuhin (duh!). inom don't recall if there was a subtitle, but it was certainly publis

From what I understand, the students, who study Malaysian history, were told that K.Lumpur was founded by a Malay guy ! Which is which now ? Prof. Khoo Kay Po, a historian, should enlighten us on this subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lightlingmk2 (talk • contribs) 11:42, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that is certainly possible. After all, Yap Ah Loy was the third Kapitan Cina of Kuala Lumpur. If there was no Kuala Lumpur before Yap Ah Loy, what would the first two Kapitans be doing?

Yumao* (talk) It's clear that Yap Ah Loy was not the founder of KL, but I find many sources that claim him as the founder of modern KL —Preceding undated comment added 02:1

    Abstract

A remarkable feature of regenerative processes is their ability to halt proliferation once an organ’s structure has been restored. The Wnt signaling pathway is the major driving force for homeostatic self-renewal and regeneration in the mammalian intestine. The mechanisms that counterbalance Wnt-driven proliferation are poorly understood. We demonstrate here that YAP, a protein known for its powerful growth-inducing and oncogenic properties1-2, has an unexpected growth-suppressive function restricting Wnt signals during intestinal regeneration. Transgenic expression of YAP reduces Wnt target gene expression and results in the rapid loss of intestinal crypts. In addition, loss of YAP results in Wnt hypersensitivity during regeneration, leading to hyperplasia, expansion of intestinal stem cells (ISCs) and niche cells, and
