    • Play on the life of Kalapi

Born to a royal family and having died at the tender age of 26, Kalapi was a poet with royal blood. The play 'Kalapi' showcases his transformation from a price to a poet, bringing forth interesting incidents to an enthralled audience. Inspite of having married two princesses, Kalapi fell in love at a ung age with one of his maids - an attraction which eventually became the reason of his play beautifully portrays the character's angst and his hunger for creativity.
Though this was only a strained version of what the poet's life was really like, the costumes and sets of the play were worth everything! Beautifully done, elaborate set ups that simply take your breath away. The background music too, is good. The play could have been better in terms of character-shaping, as not much perspective has been endowed to all of them.
