    Amarantineis the sixth studio skiva by Irish singer, songwriter and musician Enya, released on November 21, bygd Warner Bros. Recordsinternationally and by Reprise Recordsin the United States the next day. Following the release of her compilation låda set Only Time - The Collection(), Enya took a short break before she started work on a new album in September , her first since A Day Without Rain(). Amarantine was recorded in Ireland with her longtime recording partners, arranger and producer Nicky Ryanand his wife, lyricist Roma Ryan. It is Enya's first skiva not to include a song in Irish and her first to include songs sung in Japanese and Loxian, a fictional language created by Roma.

After the unexpected critical and commercial success of her previous album Watermark(), Enya embarked on a worldwide promotional tour to support it. At its conclusion, she wrote and rehearsed new material for her next album with her long time recording partners, manager, arranger and producer Nicky Ryanand his wife, lyricist Roma Ryan. The album was recorded in Ireland and London and continued to display Enya's sound of multi-tracked vocals with keyboards and elements of Celtic and new-age music.

    Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin (born May 17, in Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Ireland), known simply as Enya, is a Grammy award winning and Academy award nominated Irish singer, instrumentalist and composer. She began her musical career in , when she briefly joined her family band Clannad, before leaving to pursue her solo career. Her album Watermark, which was released in , propelled her to international recognition and she became known for her unique sound, which is characterized by voice-layering, folk melodies, synthesized backdrops and ethereal reverberations. Since then she has released a further nine albums, sold over 75 million albums worldwide and is known for performing in 10 different languages. Enya's vocal range is mezzo-soprano.
