    Paul Wright is a British painter, born in Leicester in He is best known for his portraits, visible brushstrokes, large-scale works and streaks of unblended colors. His subjects also include still lifes and interior scenes.

    Wright went to Falmouth School of Art from to , where he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. Before that, he studied fine art at Loughborough College of Art and Design. After graduation, the artist started experimenting with works created using larger brushes. The new technique greatly differed from the techniques he had been taught during his undergraduate studies.

    His paintings are large, expressive, realized with thick, exuberant brushstrokes, rich palette, and feature a fusion of abstraction and representation.

    Paul Wright (PhD, University of Arizona) is Professor and Director of Communication Science in The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington and Senior Editor at Journal of HealthCommunication. Dr. Wright studies health communication and media effects. The research program of Dr. Wright and his colleagues, inclusive of domestic and international collaborations, has received multi-million dollar support. Funders have been both federal (e.g., National Institute of Child Health and Development) and private (e.g., The Tides Foundation). Dr. Wright has served on the editorial boards of Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, Annals of theInternational Communication Association, and Communication Monographs in addition to the editorial boards of multiple health and psychological journals.

      Paul Wright was a leading British fairground artist of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, renowned for his mastery of the airbrush.

      Paul started his career on the fairground in the late s, using traditional brush painting techniques. While studying for a degree in Fine Arts at Newcastle University, he was spotted sketching at the Hoppings by the showman Ronnie Taylor. Realising Paul’s huge potential, Ronnie commissioned him to decorated one of his rides. Paul accepted the kommission, which became the beginning of a lifetime career on the fairground. The ride was Ronnie’s Rib-Tickler, which Paul covered in images from the hit Hollywood spelfilm ‘Star Wars’. From the outset he found inspiration in motives from popular youth culture. His innovative and high quality artistic designs were soon noticed by the showmen, who commissioned him to decorate a bred range of rides from gallopers, speedways and wal
